Impact Of Game Players
Why are computer games popular?
Computer games are poplar as it is a way of people being able to live a story. Similar to movies, computer games offer people the chance to be able to live and experience something out of their normal routine. For example not many people are formula one racing drivers but a computer game allows “normal” people to experience what it would be like to drive around in fast, gadget packed cars. Computer games are also interactive and fun; they are a good way to socialise with a group of friends. As computer games are starting to incorporate internet access it means people from all over the world can come together and play their favourite game. Many games are now trying to appeal to the younger market and are incorporating educational features which allow people to develop important skills.
Do computer games make you more violent?

I think it can influence people to become violent. But I think those that are violent as a result of computer games have something inside them that is triggered by playing violent computer games or in other words those people were going to show a violent side to their personality not matter what. I think computer games desensitize people especially young children, they grow up believe that shooting people with machine guns is part of *normal* life and aren’t aware to the emotional distress that action would cause in real life. Ultimately I think it depends on the players personality there are those that are easily influenced by computer games (see article) and then there are those that can enjoy violent computer games and enjoy life without going out a re-enacting a violent act they have seen in a game.
Do computer games make you more isolated?
I think in the long run computer games will make people more socially isolated. Moist people enjoy computer games with their friends and family as they find it is a good way to ease boredom and also bond. But there are more games in which only one player is needed this means people will start missing out on social events to complete the games. People will then find that they would rather stay at home and play on a game than go out and meet their friends. Also as computer games are a way of people to live fantasy lives they will soon start to like their fantasy life rather than their real life.
Do networked computer games make you more or less social?
I think that networked games make you less social. As they don’t involve talking our getting to know the personality of the recipient, it just involves you playing the game. By talking over a computer you aren’t developing any social skills this in term will make physical communication more difficult as they will find it harder to approach people they don’t have a common interest in. On the other hand networked games are a good way to find people with a common interest and friendships could be formed as a result.
